SECTION 2702.0 PERMITS AND CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS
E-2702.1 General: Electrical wiring or equipment shall not
be installed within or on any structure or premises, nor shall any alteration be
made in any such existing installation, without first securing approval and an
electrical permit from the department except as provided for in the
administrative code. It shall be unlawful to use or allow the use of, or to
supply current for, an electrical system in a building or structure, unless the
required permit has been issued by the department. An electrical permit will

already approved electrical installation in all existing building or buildings
as described in Section 2701.8.
Exception #1 The department is authorized
to issue an annual permit to a firm or corporation employing one or more
licensed electricians to perform routine maintenance on an already approved
electrical installation. This permit shall not apply to renovation or retrofit
work or can it be used in lieu of an individual permit.
E-2702.3 Annual
records: The person to whom an annual permit is issued shall keep a detailed
record of all alterations to an approved electrical installation made under such
annual permit, and such records shall be accessible to the code official at all
times or shall be filed with the department as designated.
E-2702.4
Construction documents: in addition to the requirements of the administrative
code, construction documents shall show the location and capacity of all
lighting facilities, electrically operated equipment and electrical circuits
required for all service equipment of the building or structure except as
modified by the code official.
E-2702.5 Alterations: Alterations shall
not be made to any existing installations of electric wiring or equipment for
which a permit is required within or on any structure or premises, except as
provided for in Section E-2701.3 and the administrative code, without first
securing a permit from the department.
E-2702.6 Additional loads: When
additional electrical loads are to be connected to existing services in
buildings or structures in other than occupancies in Use Group R, the existing
load shall be established as not less than the actual maximum demand figures.
New loads shall be computed in accordance with the requirements of NFPA

E-2702.7 Signs: It shall be mandatory for all sign contractors or
sign erector's installation crews to have in their possession a record or
copy of the permit number issued by the department for the sign, signboard, or
structure they are installing. All electrical work must be performed under the
provisions of this chapter by a qualified Licensed and Insured Electrical
Contractor.
E-2702.8 Permit for other person: It shall be unlawful for
any Licensed and Insured Electrical Contractor to secure or furnish a permit for
the installation, alteration, and repair of electrical wires and apparatus to
any person not entitled to such permit under the regulations set forth by this
code.
