F-601.7 Posting of occupant load: An assembly occupancy
shall be posted with an approved legible sign in contrasting colors
conspicuously located near the main point of egress from the room or space
stating the number of occupants permitted within such space. The number of
occupants permitted shall be determined in accordance with the building code
listed in Chapter 44. Assembly rooms or spaces with multiple occupancy
capabilities shall be posted for all such occupancies. The owner shall be
responsible for installing and maintaining such signs. Signs shall be obtained
from the Department of Licenses and Inspections. A fee is required for each
sign.
Exception: Lawful occupancy signs are not required in the sanctuary
or main worship areas of churches.

F-606.5 Stairway interruption at discharge: Exit stairways
which continue beyond the level of exit discharge in high rise buildings shall
be interrupted at the level of exit discharge by partitions, doors or other
effective means of preventing persons who are attempting to exit the building
from continuing past the level of exit discharge.

F-607.1.1 Corridor doors of R-2 Use Groups in high-rise
buildings: In R-2 Use Groups in high-rise buildings, doors from dwelling units
opening into public corridors and stairways shall be self-closing.

F-608.1.1 Door swing: All means of egress doors shall
swing in the direction of egress where serving an occupant load of fifty (50) or
more persons or where serving a high-hazard occupancy.

F-608.3 Locks permitted: Locks or fasteners shall not be
installed on egress doors, except in accordance with the following
conditions:

4. High-rise buildings with stairway doors arranged in
accordance with the building code listed in Chapter 44. Where exit stairway
doors, including those accessing the roof, are permitted by this code to be
locked from the stairway side, the doors shall be capable of being opened from
activation of the building fire alarm or a power failure.
5. In
buildings where the elevator lobby is separated from the remainder of the floor
by partitions and doors, the doors may be locked from the ingress side (elevator
lobby side) provided that the building conforms to Section [813.4.1.2]
B-1017.4.1.2 or B-1017.4.5 of the building code listed in Chapter
44.
Exception: Items five through seven of [the above referenced
building code section] Section B-1017.4.1.2 are permitted but are not required
as features of the locking system.

F-609.1 Emergency escape: Every sleeping room located
below the fourth story in an occupancy in Use Group R or I-1 shall have at least
one openable window or exterior door approved for emergency egress or rescue; or
shall have access to not less than two (2) approved independent
exits.

F-610.3 Information signs: A sign shall be provided at
each floor landing in all interior stairways more than three (3) stories above
grade, designating the floor level, the floor level above the floor of
discharge, the identification of the stairway and the availability of roof
access from that stairway. Floor level characters shall be at least six inches
(152 mm) in height, and characters of other information shall be at least
1-½ inches (38 mm) in height. Signage shall be located approximately five
feet (1524 mm) above the floor landing in a position which is readily visible
when doors are in the open and closed positions. All elevator lobby call
stations on all floor levels shall be marked with approved signs in accordance
with Section F-313.1.
