SECTION F-302.0 DEFINITIONS

F-302.1 General
* * *
Commercial cooking: Cooking for commercial purposes shall
mean the installation of [a cooking appliance in any location other than a
dwelling unit. It shall also include a cooking appliance located within a
dwelling unit where such an appliance is being utilized in the preparation of
food for profit or sale at retail.]:
1. A commercial cooking appliance
in any location;
2. A cooking appliance of any type where the appliance
is being utilized in the preparation of food for profit or sale at retail or
wholesale (this does not mean food paid for as a component of weekly or monthly
service fees such as day care, personal care facilities, hoarding houses,
etc.);
3. A domestic cooking appliance that is being utilized in the
preparation of meals on a regular basis for more than 20 people.

F-303.2 Barriers to fire: [Firestopping] Fireblocking,
draftstopping and thermal barriers required by the building code shall be
maintained.

F-304.2 Enclosure rating

Exception: Existing self-closing and latching 1-¾
inch (44 mm) solid wood doors shall be permitted, in lieu of labeled door
assemblies, in existing door openings where doors are required to have a fire
resistance rating of one hour or less. New doors installed in existing openings
shall have the required fire resistance rating. Existing door frames shall be
permitted provided they are in good repair.

F-306.1 General: [All d] Decorative materials shall be
installed and maintained [either be non-combustible or flameresistant] in
accordance with [both the small and large scale tests of NFiPA 701 listed in
Chapter 44] the provisions of this section. Foamed plastics and materials
containing foamed plastic shall comply with Section F-306.1.1. Electric light
bulbs shall not be decorated with paper or other combustible materials unless
flameresistant in accordance with NFiPA 701 listed in chapter 44.

F-306.1.2 Trees in buildings: Trees which have been cut
from their roots are not permitted in buildings.
Exception: One and two
family dwellings.

F-311.4 Fire apparatus access: Where a building or
structure, including an elevated walkway or ramp, is to be constructed and the
Fire Department determines that fire apparatus access is necessary, a vertical
clearance of thirteen feet (3.96 m) shall be provided.

F-312.2 Prohibited areas: Smoking shall be prohibited
where conditions are such as to make smoking a hazard, including: Areas of
piers, wharves, warehouses, stores, industrial plants, institutions, schools,
assembly occupancies and in spaces where combustible materials are stored or
handled.
Exceptions:
1. This code does not prohibit smoking in
areas of places of assembly which operate as eating and/or drinking
establishments, such as restaurants, bars, nightclubs and banquet
halls.
2. The owner or operator shall be permitted to designate safe
smoking locations or areas where approved.
