SUBCODE "F" (THE PHILADELPHIA FIRE PREVENTION CODE)
SECTION F-709.0 FAMILY CHILD DAY CARE HOME.
F-709.1 Scope: Facilities providing family day care
services for six (6) or less children for periods of less than twenty-four (24)
consecutive hours shall be classified as a Family Child Day Care Home. Such
facilities shall be operated in accordance with all requirements of the City of
Philadelphia and Sections F-709.2 through F-709.6. Additionally, a family child
day care facility shall conform to the requirements of the use group in which it
is located.
F-709.2 License: A license to operate a family child day care
facility shall be obtained from the Department of Licenses and Inspections for
an annual fire inspection. No license shall be issued under this section unless
the applicant has secured a Business Privilege License as required by Title 19
of The Philadelphia Code, except that a business conducted by a non-profit
corporation or association organized for religious, charitable or educational
purposes shall not be required to secure a Business Privilege
License.
F-709.3 Fire detection: Smoke detection shall be installed in
accordance with Section F-503.3.3.
F-709.4 Means of egress: Means of
egress shall be in accordance with Chapter 6.
F-709.5 Portable heating
devices: Portable heating devices which produce an open flame are not permitted
in the portion of a building used for family child day care.
F-709.6 Fire
extinguishers: At least one (1) portable fire extinguisher with a minimum rating
of 2-A:10-B:C shall be mounted in the portion of a building used for family
child day care.
