M-101.1 Title: These [regulations] provisions shall be known as the Philadelphia Mechanical Code [of] hereinafter referred to as "this code."

M-101.2 Scope: This code shall regulate the design, installation, maintenance, alteration and inspection of mechanical systems, equipment and appliances that are installed and utilized to provide control of environmental conditions within buildings. This code shall also regulate those systems, system components and appliances specifically addressed in this code. [Including heating systems, ventilating systems, cooling systems, steam and hot water heating systems, water heaters, process piping, boilers and pressure vessels, appliances utilizing gas, liquid or solid fuel, chimneys and vents, mechanical refrigeration systems, fireplaces, barbecues, incinerators, crematories and air pollution systems as herein defined, shall comply with the requirements of this code.]

M-101.4 Administrative provisions: This chapter contains those provisions which are unique to the administration of this code. All other administrative provisions applicable to this code are as set forth in the administrative code.[31]

M-102.5 Referenced codes: Where this code references the administrative, building, electrical, fire prevention, plumbing, or property maintenance codes, it shall mean the City of Philadelphia Code of such title listed in Chapter 19 and currently in effect unless specifically stated otherwise.

M-102.6 Referenced standards: The standards referenced in this code shall be those that are [and] listed in Chapter [21] 19 and shall be considered part of the requirements of this code to the prescribed extent of each such reference. Where differences occur between provisions of this code and the referenced standards, the provisions of this code shall apply.
