SECTION M-1002.0 DEFINITIONS


M-1002.1 General: The following words and terms shall, for the purposes of this chapter and as stated elsewhere in this code, have the meanings shown herein.

Combustion air: Air necessary for complete combustion of a fuel, including theoretical air and excess air.

Dilution air: Air necessary for the proper venting of a fuel-burning appliance. Such air is introduced into a draft hood and is mixed with the flue gases.

Excess air: Amount of air provided in addition to the theoretical air, to achieve complete combustion of a fuel, thereby preventing the formation of dangerous products of combustion.

Theoretical air: The exact amount of air required to supply oxygen for complete combustion of a given quantity of specific fuel.
