CHAPTER 5 DEPARTMENT OF STREETS AND ITS DEPARTMENTAL BOARD
§5-501. Street Openings and Excavations.
The Department of Streets shall determine the location,
time, method and manner of making any opening or excavation in any City street,
of installing any underground street structure, and of any repaving required
because of such openings, excavations, or installations.

Purposes: The Department of Streets absorbs the functions of
the Board of Highways Supervisors. Street openings and excavations should not be
made haphazardly and without the planned interruption of the use of City
streets.
