CHAPTER 7 COMMISSION ON HUMAN RELATIONS
§4-701. Investigation.
The Commission on Human Relations shall receive and may
investigate complaints of, and may initiate its own investigations of, practices
of discrimination against any person because of race, color, religion or
national origin. It may hold public hearings for such purposes and make public
its findings.

Purposes: As a part of its law enforcement and educational
program, the Commission is empowered to investigate complaints of or on its own
initiative to undertake investigations of discriminatory practices. The exercise
of this power is not limited to legally prohibited discriminations. Public
hearings and public findings are authorized in the belief that they will promote
education, inhibit discriminatory practices, and yield factual data for any
necessary action, executive or legislative.
